Climate action will drive large-scale deployment of Natural Climate Solutions (NCS) as a complement to the renewable energy transition because
NCS represent cost-effective mitigation and negative emission technologies, and deliver substantial co-benefits. The net-zero transition could
follow different pathways, but the growth potential for investments in NCS solutions is consistent across scenarios
The deployment of NCS will involve a broader sustainable transition that transforms the land use sector:
o A new land-based asset – carbon sequestration – will be produced and traded, rewarding forests, ruminant meat substitutes and other
sustainable products
- Agricultural emissions – particularly from ruminant meat and deforestation – will be abated using technical mitigation options and
  regenerative practices
- Yield-enhancing technologies will allow the agricultural sector to meet food demand despite constraints on land availability
  o Emission-intensive products and processes – such as inorganic fertilizers – will be phased-down in favour of less polluting substitutes
- A number of opportunities can protect investor assets from climate transition risks, whether by reducing risk on current assets or by creating
  new asset growth areas:
- Reforestation, afforestation are high potential growth areas, often in areas currently exposed to risks from deforestation
- Agriculture production techniques that improve productivity and reduce land requirements
- Alternative protein sources and food waste reduction, both with global market potential
