FROM CRISIS RESPONSE TO SUSTAINABLE GROWTH
The final keynote speech was given by Johanna Klein (Principal, AMC Fund of Funds Team, IFC Asset Management Company). In it, she focused on one of the immediate impacts of COVID-19 - capital flight from emerging markets, causing a contraction in access to finance for private companies in those markets. Various players moved rapidly to deploy financing in response to the crisis, helping to provide liquidity and keep companies afloat. Johanna ended by stating that a new phase of crisis response is needed, which will provide longer-term sources of capital as a foundation for renewed growth, and achieving both returns and impact.
