Real assets encompass investments in real estate, infrastructure, farmland & cropland, timberland & forestry assets. Real assets intrinsic value comes from their physical nature and substance. They tend to be more stable and less liquid than financial assets, such as stocks and bonds. All these features mean that valuing real estate assets must be done on a case-by-case basis. Valuations are often based on previous transactions of similar, but not identical, properties in the area.
