Moderator: Ian Povey-Hall, Head of Sustainable & Impact Investing, Acre
Speakers:

The speakers of this panel addressed how professionals within the industry need to adapt to a changing landscape in which asset owners increasingly ask their managers to demonstrate additional value beyond financial performance.
A special focus was laid on questions concerning how investment managers assess and reward a successful and combined use of both financial and non-financial metrics. Or how skill-sets need to be adjusted so that investment professionals can look at investments from an impact-risk-return lens.
Ian Povey-Hall (Head of Sustainable & Impact Investing) summarized the session’s key take-aways by stating that there needs to be an alignment between a company’s core purpose and what they aim to deliver. The panel further highlighted that impact investing requires more diverse skills across the boards. This represents new opportunities for existing and new players in the industry. A special emphasis was laid on the need for auditors.
Meg Brown (Executive Director, Marketing & Business Development, Impact Asset Management) explained that the regulatory side of impact generation must be as robust as the investment side. Aligned with this statement, Aglae Touchard-Le Drian (Partner, RAISE Impact) emphasized that “one must be able to demonstrate that non-financial factors are key drivers of value creation”. However, to mobilize investors at scale impact reporting processes must still become increasingly standardized.
