Opening the first panel of day two of the Summit is a group of panellists who form part of the Council for Inclusive Capitalism, a broad group of 22 organisations looking at how we can measure impact and report change in a comparable and consistent way to drive inclusive capitalism.

A major challenge in the push for systemic change is the issue of fragmented or lack of actionable and measurable data with Margot Brandenburg, Senior Program Officer at Ford Foundation supporting this by emphasising that you simply “cannot manage what you do not measure”.

The panel discuss the importance of reporting both positive and negative outcomes with Anastasia Guha, Director of Northern Europe, Middle East and Africa at Principles for Responsible Investment informing the audience in how PRI have embedded this aspect into their annual reporting framework, which ultimately allows for clearer identification on where change is needed. Continuing the conversation surrounding convergence of data is Anna Snider, Head of Due Diligence, CIO Office at Bank of America-Merrill Lynch who further promotes the need for accountability and for corporations to provide concrete evidence on how their activities are directly creating an inclusive economy.

The panel are unanimous that a mindset shift is fundamental in driving towards a more inclusive society and Sapna Shah, Managing Director, The Global Impact Investing Network outlines the importance of shifting dialogue and that we as an industry need to identify who should be at the forefront as drivers of change and ultimately, collaboration is key in promoting systemic change.
