“MONEY CAN DO SO MUCH MORE THAN JUST MAKE MORE MONEY. IN FACT, IT MUST”.
The closing keynote speech was held by Amit Bouri, CEO and Co-Founder of the Global Impact Investing Network (GIIN). Within his keynote, Amit highlighted the R3 Coalition, initiated by the GIIN, which offers a framework to respond to the current challenge that COVID-19 presents to us. The coalition is built upon a response to the immediate moment of crisis, a recovery which builds back stronger by leaning into new opportunities, and a new economy that strives to be more resilient. Achieving these targets requires communal strength. Stakeholders must cooperate and hold each other accountable.
According to Amit, the global interconnectedness and interdependence that accelerated the COVID-19 pandemic also represent its solution. The utilization of these “global links allows us to powerfully confront this threat and build new strengths”. At the end of his speech, Amit introduced an additional principle to the R3 coalition: reimagination. While addressing the crisis, we need to reimagine a more inclusive and sustainable future.
Impact investing can contribute to this new normal as “money can do so much more than just make more money. In fact, it must”.
