BEYOND 2020 - INVESTING IN GLOBAL TRANSITIONS

ABP’s aim is to contribute to a better world. In 2050 the world will look different from now and the COVID-19 crisis makes this outlook more uncertain. However sustainable economic development will be key.

In ABP’s new responsible investment policy, its 2050 vision for a climate-neutral economy is outlined. The policy focuses on 3 transitions which entail both opportunities and risks for investments. These transitions include climate change, the conservation of resources, and the digitalization of society. However, social and governance criteria are considered as a pre-condition for these transitions and therefore actively integrated into the policy.

According to Geraldine, if the SDGs are to be achieved, “there is no way to do so without governance and social criteria”. With the new policy, ABP aims to both contribute to further development and benefit from these transitions. Geraldine ended her keynote speech with a call to action, asking the impact investing industry to collaborate on standardized metrics to enhance common standards, enhancing the development of the sector.
