The next generation of wealth management clients is shifting their demands, calling for increased alignment of investments with sustainability goals. Against this background, this panel discussed different tools to assess clients' interests and how these can be integrated into client portfolios. Jamie Broderick (Director, Impact Investing Institute), the panel's moderator, further opened a discussion on impact measurement, asking the panelists what kind of impact reporting is expected by their clients and if there is a need for further reporting developments.

The panelists responded to these questions by explaining that a new value proposition has emerged, causing private banks and wealth managers to significantly adjust their business models. This requires additional work and an educated network that can facilitate the integration of impact investing. This integration, the panel argued, must follow a holistic approach with practical frameworks. Therefore, reporting and measurement activities prove to be a key component, enhancing transparency and relationships with clients.

Jamie closed the panel by stating that an enormous amount of momentum has emerged, “which has never existed in any investment trend before”. Following this trend, institutional investors that are not yet embedded in sustainability are likely to face a comparative disadvantage if they do not restructure their business model.
