Asset Management - Ross Piper, CEO, Christian Super - Anders Thorendal, Treasurer & CIO, Church of Sweden   With $44 trillion in pension assets worldwide (OECD, 2019), asset owners can build a strong impact and SDGs allocation in very different ways, customizing it to meet specific contexts, goals, and investment strategies. In this panel, leading asset owners shared their journey towards building their impact allocation, discussing how to best start the process, which asset classes to focus on, and identifying hurdles that pension funds and insurance companies may face along the way. The speakers emphasized investors' need to choose what themes and SDGs to focus on within their impact mandate. Additionally, a clear, measurable definition of impact should be established to ensure the possibility of setting clear targets. These are particularly important as they facilitate the evaluation of year-on-year progress. The main challenges outlined concern the difficulty of reporting on standardized data due to a lack of data availability and measurement frameworks. Despite these challenges, however, the panelists highlighted that generating impact while having a fiduciary duty is possible and that the market is continuously developing and improving.
